In the Shade of the Acacia – Research in the African deserts

The exhibition „In the Shade of the Acacia“ will be presented from 22 April to 13 January 2008 at the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum of Ethnology in Cologne. It will be the first stage of a touring exhibition presenting some outstanding results of the research project (SFB 389) on „cultural dynamics and landscape change in arid Africa“ to a wider public. This university project took an in-depth look at arid and semi-arid areas, some of them difficult to access, in the north east (Egypt, Sudan, Chad, Libya) and south west of Africa (Angola, Namibia, South Africa).
